Artist Spotlight: Copper Tritscheller October 09 2020
About the Artist
A native of Georgia, Copper Tritscheller always had an artistic side but did not originally pursue a career in art. Beginning in 2000, she had a range of opportunities to work in foundries and to study with professional patinators, welders, and sculptors to learn as much as she could. She explains, “I learned by doing and I am fortunate to have many talented friends who have generously shared their skills and knowledge, helping me in ways I could not have achieved on my own.”
Tritscheller has exhibited her work extensively in gallery exhibitions, art fairs, and competitions in the United States and abroad. She has been featured in solo exhibitions at Giacobbe Fritz Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and at the Philippe Staib Galleries in Taiwan and China. Articles about her work and career have been published in Southwest Art Magazine and Shanghai Daily. Her work is also included in numerous public art installations, with one of her sculptures being the first installed in a new Sculpture Garden in Palm Coast, Florida.
Artist Spotlight: Donne Bitner September 26 2020
About the Artist
Donne Bitner is an accomplished Florida artist specializing in watercolor, acrylic, and 2D mixed media painting. She graduated with honors from Penn State University with a B.A degree in Art before moving to Florida in 1967. In addition to a 30-year career as a full-time artist, Donne is a senior faculty member at Crealde School for the Arts in Orlando, FL. She has conducted workshops at Yurick Studios (Atlantic Center for the Arts Downtown), New Smyrna Beach, FL; Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida; and the Deland Museum of Art, Deland, Florida, amongst others.
In 2002, Donne received the State of Florida Individual Artist Fellowship grant and in 2006 an Individual Artist Enhancement grant. In 2004, 2007, and 2009 she received Professional Development grants from United Arts of Central Florida. Her work is in the permanent collections of numerous institutions including the Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Missouri; the Florida International Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida; the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, Florida; and the State of Florida Collection, Tallahassee, Florida.
Donne lives in Orlando and maintains a studio at McRae Art Studios.

Artist Spotlight: Inverna Lockpez September 12 2020
Inverna Lockpez was born in Cuba where she attended medical school at the University of Havana, studied painting and sculpture at the National Academy of San Alejandro and printmaking at Taller de Gravado. She emigrated to New York in the late sixties and made Manhattan her home where she attended the School of Social Work at Columbia University and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
During the 1970s, Lockpez primarily focused on sculptures and won many awards and commissions. Her work was exhibited widely at venues including the Pratt Institute in New York and the Aldrich Museum in Connecticut. She also created graphic design posters that were published by the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and designed sets and costumes for various theaters. She then returned to painting and her work was exhibited at more than 80 venues, among them, C.W. Post; Artists’ Space; 55 Mercer Street Gallery; Art in General; El Paso Museum of Fine Arts and Kentler International Drawing Space.
Lockpez received various grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA); (two) Creative Artist Public Service; CETA Award; (two) CINTAS Foundation Fellowship; Volgeltein Foundation and (two) Roxbury Arts Groups – NYSCA, Decentralization Grants. Lockpez has published two books: “Cuba, My Revolution,” and “The Noble Barn,” both available on Amazon.
A solo exhibition of her work titled Passages is on view at Arts on Douglas through October 17.
Artist Spotlight: Gabrielle Gould August 29 2020
About the Artist
Gabrielle Gould is a St. Augustine based jewelry designer whose work is inspired by coastal Florida. Gould fabricates animal forms representative of the southern landscape, such as indigenous birds and fish with enameled colors. She also frequently incorporates elements such as feathers and shells in her designs, set against a silver or high karat gold framework. She states her goal is to, “convey harmony in design and grace in execution with a sense of elegant simplicity.”

Artist Spotlight: Beau Redmond August 15 2020
About the Artist
A native of New Orleans, Beau Redmond graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia, with dual majors in Economics and Fine Art. Redmond began his banking career at the Bank of New Orleans and spent his final corporate years at the Commercial Bank and Trust Company. He continued to paint while working in the financial industry, and in 1968 and 1969 had successful exhibitions at the Downtown Gallery, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. In 1980 Redmond retired from the corporate world and began a new career as a full- time painter.
Redmond’s work can be found in many private, corporate and public collections, including the permanent collection of the New Orleans Jazz Museum; Gulf Coast Museum in Largo, Florida; the Alabama Business Hall of Fame, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa; the Alabama Capitol Complex, Montgomery; and the St. Augustine Art Association. He now resides in St. Augustine, Florida.

Day at the Beach by Victor Bokas
Join us on Saturday, August 1 between 4-7 PM for the opening of our annual themed group exhibition Endless Summer. Paying homage to the 1960s cult classic film of the same name, this fun, upbeat exhibition is a visual exploration of the summer season and all that it entails. To supplement the event, the gallery will be featuring live jazz renditions of summertime hits by TRio, featuring Tyler Rosenke on the drums, Ron Gilotti on the upright bass, and Howard Post on the guitar. Shoes, shirts, and masks are required, but guests who show up in their favorite summer attire -- from beach chic to tacky tourist, will save 10% on any Endless Summer purchases the night of the opening. Artist Spotlight: Victor Bokas July 18 2020

Growing up in Florida has had a strong influence on Victor’s life and art. He began painting at age 11 and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design.
His career path includes 9 years as Senior Art Director for Sea World and 20 years as Senior Art Director at Tupperware Brands.
Victor is now a full-time artist whose work draws inspiration from the vibrant and colorful landscape of his home state of Florida. His art is featured in several Permanent Collections including Mennello Museum of American Art, Darden Corporation, Tupperware Corporation, City National Bank, Orange County Convention Center, Winter Park Library, Maitland Art Center, Orlando City Hall, Walt Disney Productions and private collections across the country. He is also the only artist to be chosen twice for the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival poster.
Artist Spotlight: Trish Thompson July 10 2020
Trish Thompson is a mixed media painter whose work features richly textured Florida landscapes. She is retired from her position as a professor in the Cultural Arts Department at Daytona State College, where she taught painting, design, and art appreciation.
She is a founding artist at Arts on Douglas and has been represented by the gallery since its onset in 1996, during which time her work has been featured in four solo exhibitions. She has also been selected for and participated in four residencies at Atlantic Center for the Arts.
Her work has been exhibited widely, at museums including The Appleton Museum of Art, Ocala; The Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences; The Museum of Art, Deland; and the Pensacola Museum of Art. Past public commissions include the Daytona Beach International Airport, The Volusia County Courthouse, Deland, Advent Hospital, The New Orleans Museum of Art, The City of New Smyrna Beach public collection, and One Daytona, on International Speedway Boulevard (four paintings on a utilities box surround).Thompson is also a featured artist in Coast to Coast: The Contemporary Landscape in Florida, published by the University Press of Florida, and Picturing Florida: From the First Coast to the Space Coast by Kahren Arbitman, published by Fresco Fine Art Publications.
Artist Spotlight: Carly Gibran Hamid June 26 2020
A Florida native, Carly Gibran Hamid attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida and double majored in Fine Art (with a ceramic sculpture focus) and Art History. Carly went on to teach art in the public schools for seven years before leaving to focus on her studio practice full time. She also owned a small gallery and has worked with several local art organizations over the years.
Carly has been represented by Arts on Douglas since 2018 and also regularly participates in select juried art festivals across Florida. In 2019, Carly was honored to be selected as the featured artist for the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts. She was also the recipient of awards at several festivals such as Winter Park Autumn Art Festival, Mainsail Festival of the Arts, DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts and the Mount Dora Arts Festival. She has been the recipient of multiple teaching grants and was also awarded two grants for her personal artwork that funded a trip to study bone china in England.
When not in the studio, Carly can be found chasing her kids, reading, crocheting or drinking coffee.
