New Smyrna Beach, FL — Arts on Douglas is pleased to announce the opening of its premier year-end group exhibition and holiday sale, Small Things Considered. This annual exhibition features original small-scale works of art sized 10” x 10” or smaller. The opening reception will take place on December 3 from 4-7pm and we will be featuring the smooth jazz stylings of Tres Bien, with Ron Gilotti on the upright base, Tyler Rosenke on the drums and Billy Hutch on the guitar. Light refreshments will also be served. This exhibition will remain on view through January 10, 2017 in our feature gallery.
SMALL THINGS CONSIDERED
A special holiday group exhibition featuring original works of art sized 10” x 10” or smaller
Just in time for the gift-giving season, Small Things Considered will provide art lovers with an excellent opportunity to find one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on their holiday list. This much-anticipated exhibition features a variety of media including painting, sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, photography and more. Some examples in this year’s exhibition include the striking mixed-media juxtapositions of Bryce Hammond; highly texturized and abstracted landscapes by Orlando painter Victor Bokas; hand-printed, mixed-media quilt fabrications of Bobbi Baugh; contemplative landscape paintings by New Smyrna Beach artist Trish Thompson; and the whimsical oil paintings of René Guerin that capture the energy and spontaneity of life.
In all, the twenty-six Arts on Douglas artists featured in this year’s exhibition include Susan Bach, Bobbi Baugh, Donne Bitner, Victor Bokas,Tom Brewer, Lee Dunkel, Peg Fetter, René Guerin, Bryce Hammond, Ed Harris, Jane Jennings, Allison Kline, BJ Lantz, Gustaf Miller, Larry Moore, Carol E. Napoli, Lee Nesler, Joseph Palmerio, Christine Peloquin, Robert Ross, Mary Schimpff Webb, Jo Sinclair, Rose Thome Casterline, Trish Thompson, Anna Tomczak, and Barbara Wagner.
“Beyond our current roster of artists, each year we hold an open call for Florida artists to submit work to be included in this exhibition. Of the sizable number of submissions received this year, 11 guest artists were selected. Adding this new layer of talent only strengthens the high caliber of work that this exhibition is known for, and we are excited to have these additional artists on board” stated Gallery Director Meghan Martin. The guest artists featured in this exhibition are Linda Amundsen, Weronica Ankarörn, Christophe Cardot, Carol Chrissis, Cynthia Dill, Stacey Fletcher Reynolds, Elizabeth Garrison, Susanna Helman, Per Hans Romnes, Gladiola Sotomayor and Pam Werneth.
On Monday, November 28, we will be featuring an early preview of artwork from this exhibition on our website at www.artsondouglas.net. This is a great opportunity to lock in the purchase of a favorite work of art before the exhibition opens.
