New alt_space exhibition: Storytellers 17 opens July 1 July 01 2017

New Smyrna Beach, FL— Arts on Douglas is pleased to announce the opening of Storytellers 17, a photographic exhibition by New Smyrna Beach teens documenting their historic African American community as part of a programming partnership with Crealdé School of Art, Winter Park, FL and the Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum in New Smyrna Beach, FL.     

This exhibition will be on view from July 1 through August 12. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, July 1 from 4 -7 PM.  Crealdé's Executive Director, Peter Schreyer will introduce program participants and discuss this project briefly at 5 PM during the opening.  There will also be light refreshments and live jazz music featuring Ron Gilotti on the upright base and Tom Levenia on the guitar. A Gallery Talk with Crealdé's Executive Director and project creator, Peter Schreyer, is scheduled for Friday, August 11 at 11 AM.  This exhibition, reception and artist talk are all free and open to the public.
