Now in its eleventh year, this fun, upbeat exhibition celebrates the season through the creative endeavors of 31 Florida artists. This includes work by 19 artists represented by the gallery alongside a juried selection of 12 guest artists chosen from nearly 70 entries. Gallery Director, Meghan Martin elaborates, "This year's lineup is an exciting mix of new and returning exhibitors working in a range of styles and mediums including painting, collage, photography, ceramics, blown glass, jewelry, and more. Stylized surfboards, sculpted sea life, lively adornments, and coastal seascapes are just a few examples of subjects in this year's dynamic display. As an added bonus, the exhibition dates has been extended from 4 to 7 weeks, so gallery goers can experience this display right up until the last day of summer."
Examples of work in this exhibition include the playful tromp l'oeil painting titled Ornamental Variety by Beth O'Connor of Ormond Beach (shown above), that imaginatively blends summer sights and experiences through a unique exploration of spatial relationships, and Jacksonville area artist Shawn Meharg, whose piece titled School's Out (shown below) alludes to the open, unconfined stretches of time that children often experience during summer months. Both artists are first time exhibitors in this exhibition.
