George Ann Gillespie

Guest Artist - Nocturnes

About the Artist

Born in Salzburg, Austria in 1954, George Ann grew up in a military family and moved frequently, living in the U.S., Europe and Southeast Asia. Beginning early in her youth, George Ann received training from her mother as a realist plein air painter. She continued her studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Beaux Art in Paris, and at the Pratt Institute.  She has exhibited her work both in Europe and in the United States.

George Ann has a passion for travel and has broadened the subjects of her compositions to include the many places she has spent time, capturing the vibrant color and motion of cities as well as the rich hues of towns, harbors and landscapes.  With her blend of realism and trompe l’oeil effects, she further aims to draw the viewer into her compositions.

Most recently, the rich architecture of St. Augustine, viewed from a variety of unusual perspectives, has been the focus of her work.
