For over 15 years, Arts on Douglas has been featuring the work of cutting edge fine-art jewelers and each February, we present an exhibition to showcase new work and emerging trends. This year, we have re-branded this exhibition with a fresh name and a new mix of artists, hand selected to reflect an assortment of styles and original designs— from the modern and minimal layered geometric forms of Jennifer Rabinowitz, to the colorful, stylized and intricately designed enamel art by husband and wife duo Alexa and Peter Smarsh.

Working with materials including, but not limited to metal, glass, gems, beads, and stones, each artist has crafted a unique style representative of their artistic vision. For example, Gallery Director Meghan Martin states "One of the highlights of this years exhibition is the work of nationally recognized sculptor Akiko Sugiyama, of Ormond Beach, Florida. Akiko has gracefully moved into designing jewelry reminiscent of her colorful, intricately complex and delicate paper sculptures."

From Friday, January 27 through Sunday, January 29, we will be offering an early preview and a chance to purchase jewelry from this exhibition in conjunction with Images: A Festival of the Arts.  For more information about this festival, visit imagesartfestival.org.  The official opening reception for Adorn will be held on Saturday, February 4, 4-7 pm. During this reception, we will have light refreshments and will be featuring the smooth jazz stylings of Tres Bien, with Ron Gilotti on the upright base, Tyler Rosenke on the drums and Billy Hutch on the guitar. This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
