Artist Spotlight: Trent Berning April 25 2020
Trent Berning earned his M.F.A. in ceramics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is now Chair of the Mike Curb College of Music, Entertainment and Art at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida. Professor Berning and his work have been featured on numerous television programs including Southern California Life and Live at Five and in publications such as The Village News and Clay Times. He also recently wrote a book titled A Ceramic Guide: The Art of Creating and Teaching Wheel-Thrown Ceramics. In addition to teaching, Trent has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions across the nation. When he is not teaching, he is busy creating in his Port Orange studio and spending time with his family.
Artist Spotlight: Audrey Phillips April 17 2020
Audrey Phillips has spent most of her life in Florida where the landscape captivated her from a formative age. Observing the expansive sky and the far-reaching vistas of the ocean augmented her ability to see in the abstract and also encouraged personal reflection, making her strongly attuned to the beautiful intelligence and power of nature.
Audrey received her Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Florida. She has exhibited in solo and group shows in Minnesota, New York, Michigan, California, Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida, where she currently lives. Her work is in numerous national and international corporate and private collections. In 2019, fifty-four of her paintings were acquired by the University of Tampa for permanent installation in their newly renovated Southard Family Building.
Artist Spotlight: Karlene McConnell April 08 2020

Karlene McConnell was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts but has spent the majority of her life as a Floridian. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from the University of Central Florida, she worked as a Special Education Art Teacher for several years and then as Curator/Educator for the Ormond Memorial Art Museum in Ormond Beach, FL. Currently, she paints full time in her studio in Ormond Beach. McConnell is known for her abstracted landscapes that play on the allusion of three-dimensional space.

Join us for the opening of Adorn, a national jewelry invitational featuring a broad cross-section of wearable designs by a mix of accomplished jewelry artists from across the country.
From Friday, January 24 through Sunday, January 26, Arts on Douglas will be presenting an early preview of this exhibition in conjunction with Images: A Festival of the Arts.
The official opening reception for Adorn will be held on Saturday, February 1 from 4-7 PM. During this reception, the gallery will be offering cocktails and hors d'oeuvres alongside live music by TRio, featuring Tyler Rosenke on the drums, Ron Gilotti on the bass and Howard Post on the guitar. This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
