For this, her first solo exhibition at the gallery, she presents \u003cem\u003eEchoes in Wax\u003c\/em\u003e – a compelling collection of photographs enhanced through the ancient medium of encaustic wax.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFrom contemplative shorelines to deserted homes weathered by time, Hollmann creates thematic groupings that merge photography with wax, oils, and pastels to augment the ephemeral quality of her imagery. Hollmann explains, “Through the delicate layering of wax and imagery, I seek to capture the essence of fleeting moments, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and find solace in the stillness.”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eEach piece begins with a photograph mounted to a wood cradle, followed by the application of multiple layers of heated wax. Hollmann then manipulates the surface—scoring, scratching, and adding details with oils and pastels—before fusing each layer with a blow torch. This process creates a tactile experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional image-making.
