mixed media assemblage

The Giuoco Piano is one of the oldest recorded chess openings from the early 16th Century.  Also, sometimes called the Italian Game. White and black aim to develop quickly.  A late 1800s hand from a religious statue in Italy holds the black bishop and readies it for play.  Classic Russian-made chess pieces are pre-perestroika, likely early 1950s.
