American Hope

American Hope
mixed media assemblage
15 x 11 x 8 inches

A soiled American flag going through a wringer (1900s salesman's sample) to create a strong metaphor, dramatizing the often-sorry state of current events. Hope, fortunately, springs eternal as evidenced by the lead figure of a young girl dressed in white, sitting on the top edge with red, white and blue string draped above. This sculpture sits atop rare 1853 volumes I and II of History of All Nations.
