Artist's Statement

My sculptures are the result of several years of sketches and journal entries investigating natural objects in their most fragile state. Dried leaves, shells, cocoons, and seed pods become analogies for personal change.

I use printmaking techniques, carving, and hand building methods to create functional and sculptural pieces. I chose porcelain for its brightness and translucency. As a medium, porcelain is temperamental and requires special treatment. The care and time required creates an intimacy, a certain familiarity. My work is meant to be subtle, inviting engagement without demanding attention.
