Arts on Douglas is excited to announce the opening of ADORN, a national jewelry invitational featuring a broad cross-section of wearable designs by eleven accomplished and emerging jewelry artists.

Arts on Douglas has a long history of featuring the work of  fine-art jewelers and each February, we present an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge practices and designs.  This annual exhibition is a rare opportunity for the community to preview and purchase jewelry from an expertly curated selection of one-of-a-kind, handcrafted wearable art.

The artists in this year's exhibition include Susan Currier of Micco, Florida; Susan Freda of Warren, Rhode Island; Jill Herlands of New York, New York; Allison Kline of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Arn Krebs of Warren, Rhode Island; Jennifer Letter of Lexington, VA; Elizabeth Moulton of Concord, New Hampshire; Bridgette Rallo of Norfolk, Connecticut; Mary Schimpff Webb of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Akiko Sugiyama of Ormond Beach, Florida; and Wendy Thurlow of Bradenton, Florida.

Working with materials including, but not limited to metal, glass, gems, paper, beads, and stones, each artist has crafted a unique style representative of their artistic vision. One of the highlights of this years exhibition is the work of nationally recognized metal artist Jill Herlands, who brands her creations as 'wearable sculpture'.  Meghan Martin, Gallery Director of Arts on Douglas notes that "Jill's work is influenced by the urban environment of New York City, where she lives and works.  The concrete, steel and architectural elements of her surroundings are strongly referenced in her bold designs."

From Friday, January 27 through Sunday, January 29, Arts on Douglas will be offering an early preview and a chance to purchase jewelry from this exhibition in conjunction with Images: A Festival of the Arts.

The official opening reception for Adorn will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 4-7 PM. During this reception, we will be offering cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and smooth jazz by the TRio, featuring Tyler Rosenke on the drums, Ron Gilotti on the bass and Tom Monte on the guitar. This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
