As a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, I thought I would try my hand at creating a painting with a bit of a narrative to it. Something akin to what Winslow Homer achieved in many of his marine scenes. It’s a simple story, man versus the elements. This Skip Jack, a shallow draft boat made for combing the flats of the Chesapeake for oysters is about to encounter something it’s not really made to handle, a sudden swell.
