The title of the exhibition The Language of Luminosity: Batik Assemblages springs forth from a collection of new work using cotton batiks as an art medium. The title has a dual meaning.  “Luminosity” refers to the inspiration I receive from working with the radiant hues of hand-dyed and printed fabrics created in Indonesia.  The “Language” in the title conveys my conceptual design of spiritual enlightenment subtly expressed in visual form.  My spiritual connection with the beauty of nature is the creative design source behind this body of work.  

Several pieces in the exhibit incorporate a nature theme with a fantasy element which is normally unexpected in this setting.  In contrast, the multi-dimensional urban wall pieces are meant to emphasize the absence of nature and the stark coldness of city life. 

Also included in the exhibit are humorous sculptural works using found materials, sewing notions, and batik fabric.
